Sijimali (Rayagada, Odisha), December 13, 2024: Vedanta Aluminium reaffirmed its commitment to education by distributing school kits to over 4,000 students across 50+ schools near its Kuraloi and Sijimali mines in the tribal-rich regions of Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Jharsuguda districts.

Vedanta Aluminium’s initiative to distribute study kits to rural students is making a positive impact on their educational journey by providing essential supplies like notebooks, geometry boxes, and school bags.

Janmejaya Sabar, Headmaster of Kathaghara High School, commented, “I truly commend Vedanta Aluminium for providing study kits to our students. Lack of resources often hinders their education, and these kits will play a crucial role in keeping them motivated and engaged in their learning journey.”

The school kits were distributed to various villages located within the periphery of Vedanta’s Kuraloi coal mine area. Notable villages include Kudaloi in Kudaloi GP, Piplimal, Liakhai, Ujalpur, and Ulap in Piplimal GP, Banjari, Grindola, Chaurimahul, and Bartap in Banjari GP, as well as Ward No. 17 within Belpahar Municipality limits.

Supporting education in the periphery of Vedanta’s Sijimali coal mine area, school kits were given to students of prominent schools like Naknudi, Govt Primary School Mohangiri, Govt PS Kathaghora, and Govt UPS Gunpur in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts.

The provision of vital study materials by Vedanta Aluminium has not only equipped students for success but also led to a noticeable rise in school attendance, benefiting both learners and educational institutions.

This program is an important step in Vedanta’s long-term mission to enhance the quality and accessibility of education in the rural regions near its operational footprint.

Vedanta Aluminium’s commitment to community development goes beyond business operations, as the company spearheads strategic efforts in education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, rural infrastructure, and grassroots sports and culture.

Through its mobile health unit, Vedanta Aluminium organizes health camps across rural Odisha, providing free medical services and promoting healthcare awareness. The company also supports the education sector, addressing the lack of school supplies among children in remote areas such as Kuraloi and Sijimali. These combined efforts illustrate Vedanta’s firm commitment to improving the well-being and education of local communities. Working alongside local authorities and welfare organizations, Vedanta is contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of Odisha.

Vedanta Aluminium remains committed to driving transformation in Odisha through social impact initiatives spanning education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, rural infrastructure, and grassroots sports and culture. Collaborating closely with local authorities and community stakeholders, the company ensures its interventions lead to tangible socio-economic progress in its areas of operations.

Vedanta Aluminium, a business of Vedanta Limited, is India’s largest producer of aluminium, manufacturing more than half of India’s aluminium i.e., 2.42 million tonnes in FY25. It is a leader in value-added aluminium products that find critical applications in core industries. Vedanta Aluminium ranks 2nd in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 world rankings for the aluminium industry, a reflection of its leading sustainable development practices. With its world-class aluminium smelters, alumina refinery and power plants in India, the company fulfils its mission of spurring emerging applications of aluminium as the ‘Metal of the Future’ for a greener tomorrow.
