Koraput (Odisha), December 14, 2024: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting Odisha’s cultural heritage by extending vital infrastructural support to “PARAB-2024,” the region’s flagship annual festival celebrating tribal and folk traditions.
The event, held near the Kodingamali mines in Koraput’s Laxmipur block, brought together more than 5,000 participants, creating a vibrant atmosphere that showcased the rich legacy of tribal art, music, dance, and culture. Organized under the leadership of the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Laxmipur, the festival became a powerful platform for celebrating indigenous identities and strengthening community bonds.
The festival was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests. Local MLA Mr. Pabitra Saunta graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Block Chairman Mr. Suaai Kulesika, several Sarpanches, and Samiti Members of the Laxmipur block attended as honored dignitaries. Their presence highlighted the importance of grassroots-level cultural initiatives in sustaining Odisha’s traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gureswar Bhoi, BDO of Laxmipur, extended heartfelt appreciation to Vedanta Aluminium for its continued support. He remarked, “PARAB is more than just a cultural gathering—it is an expression of Odisha’s living heritage. Festivals like these provide communities with the opportunity to celebrate their identity and pass traditions on to younger generations. I sincerely thank Vedanta for encouraging grassroots cultural revival and empowering our local communities.”
Through this initiative, Vedanta Aluminium enabled local artisans, self-help groups (SHGs), and students to exhibit their skills and creativity on a broader stage. Their participation not only generated recognition but also opened up new opportunities for livelihood enhancement and cultural visibility. The company’s involvement underlines its belief that strengthening cultural ecosystems is as vital as driving economic development.
Over the years, Vedanta Aluminium has consistently championed cultural initiatives across Odisha. Its efforts include supporting the world’s longest Sambalpuri theatre production in Sundargarh, facilitating World Tribal Day celebrations in Koraput, and backing traditional events like the Namayagnya festivities and the Bahuda Yatra in Jamkani. The company has also honored stalwarts of Odia culture, most notably Padma Shri awardee Jitendra Haripal, who immortalized Sambalpuri folk music through timeless songs such as “Rangabati” and “Chhaeli.”
By investing in such initiatives, Vedanta Aluminium continues to uphold its vision of nurturing grassroots talent, enriching cultural diversity, and preserving indigenous art forms for future generations. Beyond industrial leadership, the company strives to be a catalyst for cultural sustainability—bridging the gap between tradition and modernity while ensuring that Odisha’s unique heritage thrives in the years to come.
