Bhubaneswar, 07/04/2025: The Anil Agarwal Foundation has turned over 8,000 Anganwadi centers into modern Nand Ghars across 15 states. These centers help young children learn and grow in a safe and clean environment. They are equipped with smart TVs, digital learning tools, clean drinking water, proper toilets, and electricity. So far, the Nand Ghar project has supported more than 3 lakh children and 2 lakh women with education, nutrition, healthcare, and skills training.
Nand Ghars also provide healthy, fortified meals to children and give extra nutrition support to pregnant and new mothers. They offer health check-ups and vaccination drives to keep communities healthy. Women are given training in areas like handicrafts and food processing, helping them earn up to ₹10,000 a month. The Foundation has also started giving out millet-based shakes full of vitamins and minerals to children in six states to improve nutrition.
In March 2025, Nand Ghar opened 25 new centers in Thane, Maharashtra, and plans to build 20,000 more in Rajasthan in the next two years. This effort supports the Indian government’s mission to improve the lives of women and children, especially in villages. As the government’s ICDS program celebrates 50 years, Nand Ghar is working alongside it to bring better learning, health, and growth opportunities to rural families across the country.
