Bhawanipatna, 28/04/2025: Vedanta Aluminium is working to improve health in rural Odisha through regular community programmes. On World Malaria Day, the company held a special awareness drive in the villages of Nakrundi, Gunpur, and nearby areas. To make learning fun and easy, they organised street plays by trained artists, attracting over 380 villagers. Through these plays, people learned simple ways to prevent malaria, including using medicated mosquito nets that Vedanta’s Sijimali Bauxite team had distributed earlier.
After the plays, villagers took part in open discussions where they asked questions and shared their thoughts. These conversations helped everyone understand better how to protect themselves and their families from malaria. The interactive approach made the programme more effective and encouraged the villagers to take preventive steps seriously.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Good health is the foundation of a strong community. We want to not only provide healthcare but also inspire people to live healthier lives.” He added that Vedanta’s health initiatives — including malaria prevention, nutrition awareness, yoga promotion, and cancer education — are all aimed at creating happy, healthy communities.
In the last year alone, Vedanta Aluminium’s healthcare programmes have reached more than 45,000 people through health camps, vaccination drives like Swarna Prashan, and other awareness activities. With continuous efforts like these, Vedanta is helping villages in Kalahandi and beyond move toward a healthier and brighter future.
