Bhubaneswar, June 5, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s biggest aluminium company, is using smart technology to reduce pollution and make its operations cleaner. As the world looks for greener ways to produce energy, Vedanta is leading the way by using new tools and machines that help protect the environment.

One of the company’s biggest steps is its partnership with Serentica Renewables. Through this, Vedanta is getting 1,335 megawatts of clean, green electricity for its factories in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. This will help them reach their goal of using 30% renewable energy by the year 2030.

Vedanta is also using modern machines like electric forklifts to cut down on diesel use. At its Jharsuguda plant, it has introduced India’s first 10-ton electric forklift and now runs the largest group of electric forklifts in the country. The company is testing biodiesel for its trucks and using natural gas in its casthouses to reduce harmful emissions.

Another smart step is using agricultural waste as fuel. In Lanjigarh, Vedanta burns 20 tonnes of biomass every day, which cuts down pollution and helps local farmers earn money by selling waste that would otherwise go unused.

These changes have won Vedanta global recognition. It was ranked 2nd in a global sustainability survey and received certificates for running its factories in an eco-friendly way. Vedanta Aluminium is showing how new technology can help big industries become cleaner and more responsible.
