Bhubaneswar, 10.06.2025: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India observed ‘Sustainaibilty Week’ from May 29 to June 7, 2025, across its Odisha operations, focusing on the theme “Eliminating Plastic Pollution”. A series of activities were held at the Paradip plant, including housekeeping audits and plastic waste collection driver with the active involvement of employees, contractors and partners.
One of the key highlights was a group tree planting initiative on the beach, along with quiz and poster competitions to raise awareness among participants. The events were jointly organized with the State Pollution Control Board.
A large-scale beach cleaning campaign was conducted at Paradip beach, supported by company staff, local vendors, and Paradip Municipality. On World Environment Day (June 5), the State Pollution Control Board’s Paradip office led an awareness rally near Taladanda Nala, followed by a public meeting at the AM/NS India plant entrance.
The event saw participation from key dignitaries including Paradip Municipal Chairman Basant , Executive Officer Abhishek Panda, Regional Pollution Control Officer Pushkar Chandra Behera, AM/NS Odisha Asset Executive Director Suresh , and Plant Head USR Raju. Representatives from other industrial units like PPL, IOCL, and JSW were also present. As part of the green initiative, fruit tree saplings were distributed to the attendees to promote sustainable living.
