Delhi : 18.12.2024: Vedanta Aluminium, the largest aluminium producer in India, reflects on the success of its transformative Project Panchhi. Spearheaded by Chairman Mr. Anil Agarwal, the initiative aims to empower 1,000 girls from underprivileged communities across India through a unique recruitment drive.
Vedanta Aluminium has already enrolled 190 girls from rural districts in Odisha and Chhattisgarh into various undergraduate programs such as B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, and B.Tech at OP Jindal University, Raigarh. Project Panchhi is dedicated to fostering independence and self-reliance among girls from underprivileged communities. It strives to address the educational challenges faced by first-generation learners and other girls who may not pursue higher studies due to financial or social barriers. Vedanta Aluminium believes in the untapped potential of these daughters and is committed to providing them with equal opportunities for education and career growth.
Sunil Gupta, the Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized the company’s strong commitment to using education and empowerment as tools for transformative change. He highlighted how Vedanta Aluminium’s initiatives not only provide young women with the opportunity to pursue their passions but also support them in overcoming obstacles and creating brighter futures for themselves and their families. He further expressed the company’s goal of ensuring that women make up 30% of their workforce by 2030, underlining Vedanta’s commitment to creating opportunities that inspire aspirations and uplift entire communities.
Lakshmi Pradhan, a Project Panchhi participant, reflected, “In the six months I’ve been involved with Project Panchhi, I’ve not only expanded my academic understanding but also taken part in numerous extracurricular activities. As the first daughter in my family to pursue higher education, I am excited about contributing to my family’s success and bright future.”
