Sundargarh, 26.07.2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s biggest aluminium producer, is helping tuberculosis (TB) patients in Sundargarh’s Balishankara block through the Prime Minister’s ‘Nikshay Mitra’ program. This is part of the national ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ (TB-Free India Campaign).
Working with the local district administration, Vedanta is giving nutrition kits to 63 TB patients for one year to support their recovery. The program was launched in the presence of Dr. Suresh Chandra Mohanty (Chief District Medical Officer), ASHA workers, and other local leaders.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “We want to help build a TB-free India. Good nutrition is very important for TB patients. So far, we’ve helped over 550 patients in Jharsuguda and Kalahandi. Now, we’re happy to do the same in Sundargarh.”
Dr. Mohanty said that people in remote areas often don’t have access to proper healthcare. He believes Vedanta’s support will help improve TB treatment and support government efforts.
Vedanta Aluminium also supports local communities in other ways—by promoting education, healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, sports, and culture. Their aim is to bring positive change and help Odisha grow.
