Jharsuguda, 18/08/2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its Jharsuguda operations with great pride and enthusiasm. The occasion was marked not only by ceremonial traditions but also by a series of community-centric activities that highlighted the company’s commitment to empowerment, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
The celebrations extended over an entire week, during which Vedanta Aluminium organized multiple programs to inspire self-reliance and foster awareness among the local community. A special self-defense workshop for women was conducted to enhance their confidence and readiness to tackle adverse situations. Participants, largely from nearby villages, expressed that the training equipped them with valuable skills and a stronger sense of security.
In addition, health awareness sessions were arranged to educate people on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and overall well-being. Doctors and medical staff from Vedanta’s healthcare team conducted the sessions, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle changes, regular check-ups, and hygiene practices.
Taking forward the spirit of a greener future, sapling plantation drives were carried out with active participation from employees, business partners, and community members. Hundreds of saplings were planted both within the plant premises and in nearby villages, reinforcing Vedanta’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
The run-up to Independence Day also saw the city of Jharsuguda come alive with marathons, flag rallies, and bike rallies. These events drew large participation from Vedanta employees, contractors, youth groups, and local residents. With tricolors flying high, the rallies became a vibrant symbol of unity, national pride, and collective celebration. Senior officials from the district administration, including the District Magistrate, joined the events and appreciated Vedanta’s efforts to make the Independence Day observance inclusive and participatory.
The Independence Day ceremony at the plant was a grand affair. The tricolor was unfurled with due respect, followed by a disciplined march-past parade presented by the Plant Security Team. The atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor as employees and their families showcased cultural programs, featuring patriotic songs, dances, and skits that celebrated India’s journey of resilience and progress.
Employees from the Plant Security and Safety Team were felicitated for their exceptional service and dedication, underscoring the company’s recognition of individuals who contribute to both workplace safety and community welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Gupta, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Independence Day is not just a celebration of freedom, but a reminder of our duty towards nation-building.
