Lanjigarh, 1st September 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, recently organised a Mega Health Camp in Kankutru Gram Panchayat under its flagship CSR healthcare initiative, Project Aarogya. The camp extended its reach to 13 villages in the Lanjigarh block and brought together nearly 400 beneficiaries, offering free consultations, diagnostic tests, and essential medicines. By taking healthcare directly to rural doorsteps, the initiative is addressing one of the most pressing challenges of underserved communities—accessibility.

The health camp was conducted by a team of qualified doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, who provided general check-ups, distributed medicines, and guided participants on preventive healthcare practices. Along with consultations, the camp emphasized the importance of early diagnosis of diseases, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition awareness, and safe hygiene habits. For residents of remote tribal villages, where the nearest health centre may be several kilometres away and travel costs are often unaffordable, such interventions serve as a vital support system.

Vedanta Aluminium has institutionalised monthly health camps across the region, ensuring that healthcare is not a one-time intervention but a continuous and reliable service. These efforts reflect the company’s long-standing dedication to bridging healthcare disparities, while contributing to India’s national vision of Ayushman Bharat and aligning closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO of Vedanta’s Alumina Business, said: “Healthcare is a basic right, yet many people in rural areas continue to struggle to access it. In Kalahandi district, through Project Aarogya, we provide quality healthcare to over 60,000 individuals every year. Events like Mega Health Camps showcase our firm belief that healthy communities are the foundation for sustainable growth and social progress.”

Over the years, Project Aarogya has grown into a comprehensive healthcare programme, with multiple dimensions designed to serve the needs of rural and tribal households. In FY2025 alone, more than 660 Mobile Health Unit (MHU) visits brought doorstep consultations, diagnostics, and medicines to over 20,500 individuals in remote areas. Additionally, more than 680 awareness sessions reached 15,000 people, educating them about sanitation, nutrition, preventive care, and seasonal disease management. These activities empower communities not just with treatment but also with knowledge that promotes long-term health and resilience.

By weaving together regular health camps, mobile health outreach, and preventive awareness programmes, Vedanta Aluminium is creating an ecosystem of healthcare that ensures no household is left behind. The company’s sustained interventions in Odisha’s tribal heartland highlight its role as a responsible development partner, committed to inclusive growth and the long-term well-being of its neighbouring communities.
