Jharsuguda, Odisha, 21/12/2024: The farmers of Laikera, Jharsuguda launched ‘Vedamrit Honey’ a premium, all-natural honey with the support of Vedanta Aluminium. The Vedamrit honey is produced by expert beekeepers from the Laikera HoneyFed Farmer Producer organization. The launch took place at the Panchayat Samiti Office in Laikera, where community leaders, government officials, and the local community gathered to support sustainable livelihoods and environmental care.
Under the Subhalaxmi Cooperative, this initiative supports local farmers with modern beekeeping practices. It provides honeybee boxes, bees, and training in honey production. Over 100 farmers received free training, producing pure honey and helping maintain the region’s ecological balance.

Sunil Gupta, COO of Vedanta Aluminium, stated, “Vedamrit Honey represents our dedication to empowering communities through innovative livelihood programs.” Sanjulata Nayak, Secretary of Laikera HoneyFed FPO, highlighted, “Beekeeping not only boosts farmers’ income but also plays a key role in pollination, essential for better agricultural yields.” Harish Patel, a bee farmer from Laikera, shared, “Earlier, we struggled with stable income opportunities. Vedanta’s training and resources in beekeeping have given us a reliable livelihood.”
