Bhubaneswar, February 19: Under Operation ‘Cyber Kavach’, Rourkela Police has arrested 6 persons involved in illegal betting during the ongoing T-20 Cricket World Cup 2026.
During the verification of mule bank accounts, credible inputs emerged regarding an organised syndicate involved in illegal online and offline betting on the ongoing T-20 Cricket World Cup-2026.
Rourkela Police acted swiftly in the matter and conducted coordinated raids at multiple locations under Bondamunda PS and busted the racket.
The 6 arrested persons included main operators and investors. Syndicate was operating betting through online app “Silver Exchange” and circulating betting IDs to customers. Mule bank accounts and financial channels used for illegal betting transactions were identified.
Seized items include ₹30,65,000 in cash, mobile phones, laptops, and a Mahindra Thar SUV. The investigation also revealed an organised interstate betting network operating in Rourkela and beyond.
Further investigation is underway to trace financial transactions and identify additional associates, said the Police.
