Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi has laid the foundation stone for the construction of new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the rich heritage, art and culture of Odisha will be reflected in the architectural style of this new building.
It is noteworthy to mention that the existing building is old, and it has a shortage of space and facilities. This new building is being constructed while keeping in mind about the current needs. It will have 3 basements, a ground floor and 6 other floors. A total of 45 suites with latest facilities will be constructed. There will be an exhibition area on the first floor and a conference hall with about 70 seats on the second floor.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the tender process for this project has been completed and the construction work will begin soon. A total cost of Rs. 93.27 crore will be spent on this project, mentioned the CM.
The state government has planned to build Odisha Bhawans with the aim of strengthening the administrative coordination and cultural ties of Odisha in various cities of the country including New Delhi. Odisha Bhawans will also be built in cities like Ayodhya, Bengaluru and Surat in the future. For this, he said, land has been sought from the concerned states.
He further said that the state government has operational Odisha Bhawans in Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. There is a proposal to build another Bhawan in Mumbai for the convenience of the people. The Chief Minister said that a special division will be created for the maintenance of all these Bhawans and Sadans.
He further said that a public shelter Bhawan will be built near the Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Chowk. The building will be helpful for those people who come to Bhubaneswar from different districts of Odisha for urgent work. The facility will offer three-day accommodation for those people at low cost.
The event held in New Delhi was attended by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jewel Oram, Odisha Government’s Minister of Works, Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, Bargarh MP, Shri Pradeep Purohit, and Principal Secretary, Works Department, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh.
