State-run power giant NTPC announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRIDCO and the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) to establish green hydrogen infrastructure in Odisha. The MoU aims to advance green energy technologies, particularly green hydrogen mobility.
Under this agreement, NTPC will set up a green hydrogen fuelling station in Bhubaneswar and deploy hydrogen buses for short and long-haul operations. This initiative supports transitioning from fossil fuel buses to clean, green fuels, enhancing decarbonization and energy security. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is partially funding this project.
NTPC has operated a green hydrogen blending project in Surat for the past two years and has initiated similar projects in Leh, Greater Noida, and Kandla. Additionally, NTPC is developing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam and aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
