The Rail Vikas Sangharsh Samiti (RVSS) is pushing for budget provisions for two significant rail projects in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand: the Sardega-Sundargarh-Pathalgaon and Dharamjaigarh-Pathalgaon-Lohardaga lines. Detailed surveys and preparations for these proposals have already been completed.
On December 16, RVSS members from Chhattisgarh and Sundargarh submitted a joint memorandum to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking financial support in the upcoming Union budget. The proposed 128 km Sardega-Sundargarh-Pathalgaon line aims to improve connectivity for Sundargarh residents, who rely on the distant Jharsuguda station.
Meanwhile, the Dharamjaigarh-Pathalgaon-Lohardaga line promises to establish a crucial rail link between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. This project has progressed, with its Detailed Project Report (DPR) already completed and land acquisition plans in place.
RVSS highlights the importance of these rail lines for the socio-economic development of tribal districts in the three states. With the support of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, RVSS calls on the Odisha government and the Rail Ministry to expedite the remaining DPR to ensure both projects can advance together.
