Bhubaneswar, 29th January: Minister of Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, heralded the promising future of Odisha’s film industry during his address at the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave held at Janata Maidan. Reflecting on the significant progress since the release of the first Odia film, Sita Bibaha, in 1936, he noted the official recognition of the Odia film industry in 1974 and its subsequent national acclaim.
“Odia cinema is a true reflection of our society and culture. We are committed to its growth and development. I am confident that in the coming years, Odia films will gain more recognition at both national and international levels,” Shri Swain stated.
The conclave featured a special session dedicated to exploring investment opportunities in the Odia film industry. Esteemed attendees included Jajpur Korei MLA Shri Akash Das Nayak, Principal Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department Shri Sanjeev Mishra, Director Shri Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, and Managing Director of Odisha Film Development Corporation Shri Samarth Verma.
A panel discussion during the session brought together industry stalwarts like Amitabh Guha Thakurta, Pramod Arora, Shivashish Sarkar, and Rajesh Sharma to deliberate on strategies for strengthening and enriching the Odia film sector.
