Kalahandi (Odisha), January 18, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has reached a significant milestone in its flagship healthcare initiative, “Swarna Prashan,” positively impacting 22,000 students across Odisha. In collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, this initiative promotes the well-being of children by introducing the benefits of traditional Ayurvedic practices.
Since its launch in September 2024, the Swarna Prashan programme has successfully completed its 5th phase, benefiting more than 5,000 students in 13 government schools across the tribal-dominated Kalahandi district. With a focus on cognitive and physical development, the programme is designed to nurture children’s health during their crucial formative years.
Dr. Kshetra Kand, Ayurvedic Medical Officer in Kalahandi, expressed his support for the initiative, saying, “Swarna Prashan is a vital step in promoting Ayurvedic health practices for children’s well-being, and I commend Vedanta Aluminium for working closely with government and community stakeholders to create a healthier future.”
Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, further emphasized the company’s commitment to underserved regions, stating, “Through initiatives like Swarna Prashan, we are making a meaningful impact on child health and development, providing essential support rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom.”
As the programme expands into Koraput district, Vedanta plans to extend its reach to over 30,000 children by the end of the year, reinforcing its dedication to holistic community development and sustainable health improvements in Odisha.
