Bhubaneswar, Odisha; September 05th, 2025 – For the young men and women of Sundargarh’s villages, career opportunities once seemed far beyond reach. Today, thanks to Vedanta Aluminium’s VeDakshata Skill Training Centre in Bileimunda, dozens of rural youth are rewriting their futures through skill-based employment.
Since its launch in December 2024, the initiative has enabled 87 trainees to secure jobs across India as Assistant Electricians, Sewing Machine Operators, and Food & Beverage Service stewards. For many, it is their first step into the formal workforce, providing both stable income and dignity of work.
“Earlier, my family survived only on agriculture, but now my daughter supports us with her earnings,” shared a parent of a trainee-turned-seamstress, highlighting the ripple effect of skill development in strengthening households.
Vedanta’s goal is to train over 700 youth in the next three years across villages near its coal mining projects in Odisha. By nurturing confidence, independence, and employability, the program is reshaping not just individual lives but entire communities.
