India is making fast progress in using green hydrogen as a clean source of energy. Big companies like Larsen & Toubro (L&T) are playing an important role in this effort. On April 4, 2025, L&T started a new company called L&T Green Energy Kandla Pvt Ltd (LTGEK). This new company will work on green hydrogen projects and related products like green ammonia.
Green hydrogen is made by splitting water using electricity from renewable sources like solar or wind. It doesn’t produce pollution and is seen as an important way to fight climate change and reduce the use of fossil fuels.
L&T said in a stock exchange filing that LTGEK will handle green hydrogen development and other related work. Earlier, L&T had already built its first green hydrogen plant in Gujarat.
