New Delhi, 08/01/2025: India is making big progress in the export of electric vehicles (EVs) and clean mobility solutions. Vimal Anand, a senior official in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said at the launch of the Bharat Battery Show that EVs for use within India have already taken off. Now, the country is preparing to export EVs and related technology. Government schemes like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) are helping by supporting local manufacturing and reducing the need for imports.
The government is also investing Rs 2,000 crore under the PM E-drive scheme to build a fast-charging network, which will encourage more people to use EVs. By 2030, India will need a large number of advanced batteries for EVs, making it important to develop better energy storage technologies. The Bharat Battery Show, part of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, will feature over 20 new products and highlight progress in battery technology, recycling, and charging infrastructure.
Debi Prasad Dash, head of IESA, announced two events before the main show: a Battery Manufacturing Summit on January 15-16 and a Battery Recycling Summit on January 18. During the expo on January 21, there will also be sessions to connect startups and discuss EV charging infrastructure. Dash said these efforts show India’s ability to lead the world in EV technology and infrastructure.
