Kalahandi, 28/05/2025: The 2025 edition of the Kashipur Premier League (KPL), a much-anticipated community-driven cricket tournament in Rayagada’s Kashipur block, once again brought together rural youth in a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and talent development. Organized by local community members, this year’s tournament showcased the passion and determination of 128 young cricketers representing diverse villages across the region.
Over several weeks, villagers turned out in large numbers to cheer on their teams, culminating in a high-octane final match between Khantikashipuriya and Smart 11. With over 2,000 spectators in attendance, Khantikashipuriya emerged victorious in a gripping finale. The champions were felicitated by local leaders, including Mr. Debabrata Malik, Inspector In-Charge of Kashipur, and Dr. Netanand Naik, Head of the Community Health Center.
The tournament was also supported by Vedanta Aluminium, whose team from the Rayagada unit contributed to organizing and sponsoring the event. Their involvement reflects a growing collaboration between local institutions and industry in promoting rural youth engagement through sports.
“This tournament is more than just cricket—it’s about giving our youth opportunities to shine, stay active, and inspire others,” said Dr. Netanand Naik. “It also builds strong social ties and a sense of pride within our villages.”
