Sambalpur, February 27: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL) has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) of Rs 46.51 crores with leading government medical institutions in Cuttack to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure in Odisha, with major focus on advanced diagnostic support at Srirama Chandra Bhanja (SCB) Medical College & Hospital.
MCL has committed Rs 46.34 crores under its CSR initiative for procurement and installation of two 128-Slice Dual Energy CT Scan machines and one 1.5 Tesla MRI machine at SCB MCH, Cuttack.
With an average daily footfall of 8,000–10,000 patients, the addition of advanced imaging systems is expected to significantly enhance diagnostic precision, reduce waiting time, and benefit nearly 25–30 lakh patients annually across Odisha and neighbouring regions.
In a separate initiative, MCL has also signed an MoU with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (SVPPGIP), Cuttack popularly known as Shishu Bhawan, extending CSR support of Rs 16.99 lakh for procurement of three 8-seated battery-operated passenger vehicles.
This will cater to improved, safe and eco-friendly patient mobility within the hospital campus.
Through these initiatives, MCL continues to look beyond its core operations- strengthening healthcare facilities, supporting life-saving infrastructure, and reaffirming its enduring commitment to community welfare across Odisha.
