Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, is not only focusing on coal production but also on community welfare. The company is on track to achieve its production target of 139 million tonnes for the current financial year, having already produced 128.13 million tonnes by February. NCL plays a crucial role in India’s energy security, with 88 percent of its coal supporting the power sector.
Beyond coal mining, NCL has taken a step towards social responsibility by launching a large-scale first aid training program for homemakers. Introduced on January 26, this initiative has already trained around 1,500 homemakers across various project locations. By providing first aid knowledge, NCL aims to create a more health-conscious and prepared community, extending safety awareness beyond the workplace and into homes.
Known for its highly mechanised mines, NCL contributes about 15 percent of India’s total coal production. While maintaining its key role in energy generation, the company is also strengthening its commitment to social development. Through initiatives like first aid training, NCL is fostering a culture of safety and preparedness, ensuring that both its workforce and their families benefit from essential life-saving skills.
