New Delhi, 25/02/2025: NTPC, India’s biggest power company, is making a major move towards clean energy by investing over Rs 2 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh. The company, along with its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), signed agreements with the state government at the Global Investors Summit.
As part of this plan, NTPC will develop 20 GW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and pumped hydro storage, with an investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore. This project, in partnership with Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd (MPPGCL), will help the state meet its renewable energy targets.
Additionally, NTPC will invest Rs 80,000 crore in other clean energy projects and Rs 4,000 crore to set up an 800 MW pumped hydro storage plant. These projects will boost clean energy production, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and support India’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
With a current power capacity of 77 GW and a target of 60 GW renewable energy by 2032, NTPC is taking big steps to make India’s energy future greener and more sustainable.
