Bhubaneswar, 11/03/2025: Odisha is fast becoming a hub for para sports, with athletes like Mohan Sahu making significant strides on the national and international stage. At the 13th National Para Judo Championship 2025, Mohan clinched two bronze medals in the Junior JI (66 kg) and Senior JI (64 kg) categories, showcasing the state’s rising dominance in the field.
Hailing from the tribal-dominated Kalahandi district, Mohan has persevered through challenges to emerge as one of the country’s most promising para judo athletes. His hard work and dedication have now earned him an opportunity to represent India at the upcoming Asian Para Judo Championship 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Speaking about his journey, Mohan Sahu expressed gratitude for the support and recognition he has received. “This achievement is a stepping stone toward my dream of competing internationally. I am determined to give my best and make my country proud,” he said.
Odisha’s sporting ecosystem has been fostering talents across various disciplines, with para athletes gaining well-deserved attention. The state’s growing prominence was also highlighted when two Kabaddi players from Rayagada district recently represented India at the International Kabaddi Tournament in Nepal.
