Bhubaneswar, 19/08/2025: The Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Sudhanshu Mohan Samal, visited the corporation’s Chrome Mine area in Sukinda, Jajpur district, to conduct a detailed review of mining operations. He was joined by Director (Operations) Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Services) Bana Bihari Pani, and other senior officials.
During his visit, Mr. Samal inspected several important sites at the South Kaliapani Mine, including the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), stockyard, chrome ore handling areas, and waste management facilities. He also toured the Pokhari, Sukarangi, and Kaliapani mining areas to assess their functioning.
The MD directed officials to focus on boosting production and sales while ensuring that the minerals meet the required quality standards. He emphasized the need for a smooth, transparent sales system and encouraged officers and staff to show leadership in achieving the company’s business goals.
Mr. Samal also carried out a review of the Ferro-Chrome Plant. He advised management to adopt measures for improving efficiency and competitiveness in the market. Stressing the importance of compliance, he instructed OMC to strictly follow all statutory and regulatory guidelines to maintain business excellence.
Looking beyond operations, the MD highlighted the role of sustainability in mining activities. He encouraged greater use of renewable energy sources, especially solar power, and called for efforts to improve the local ecological balance. In particular, he suggested tree plantation drives in and around the mining areas as a step toward environmental conservation.
Through this visit, the OMC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to combining operational growth with responsibility ensuring higher productivity, stronger compliance, and greener practices for the future.
