Bhubaneswar, 09/04/2025: More than 30,000 people in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha are getting help through two new projects that aim to improve education, clean water, and sanitation. These projects, called Project Vidya and Project Nirmal, are supported by Vedanta, India’s largest aluminium-producing company.
The launch event was held in Mundherkhet village in Hemgir block. Local leaders and community members joined the celebration, including Sundargarh Sub-Collector Mr. Dasarathi Saraboo, who said, “Good education and student health go hand in hand. These projects will help our children learn better and live healthier lives.”
Project Vidya helps schools by adding 22 more teachers to 20 government schools. This helps children learn important subjects like Math, Science, and English more easily. It also supports young students with reading and writing.
Project Nirmal focuses on clean water and sanitation. The project includes 11 solar-powered borewells, 50 bio-toilets, and 20 water purifiers in 12 villages. These changes will improve daily life for many families.
Vedanta’s Coal Mines CEO, Mr. David Stone, said, “We want to help communities grow. Through better schools and clean water, we can make a real difference.”
Many schools across the Ghogharpalli, Jamkhani, and Kuraloi areas are taking part in these projects. The goal is to create a healthier and smarter future for the children and families living nearby.
