Bhubaneswar, 26/12/2024: The Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) has mandated all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state to initiate the application process for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 (PMAY(U) 2.0). This phase marks a shift from the previous one, with all applications to be submitted online through a web portal developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.
The Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) has suggested that ULBs establish helpdesks at their offices, host ward-based camps, and work with Common Service Centers (CSCs) to provide assistance to applicants, ensuring a smooth application process for eligible beneficiaries.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched the PMAY(U) 2.0 application process with a camp in Gadakana. This site holds special importance, having been visited by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on his 74th birthday (17th September 2024), where he met with PMAY(U) beneficiaries. On the recommendation of Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, and the guidance of thme Principal Secretary, H&UD, Gadakana has been chosen for development as a Model Village.
The inaugural camp, organized in partnership with OUHM, was designed to assist Economically Weaker Section (EWS) households in applying for PMAY(U) 2.0. Beneficiaries were advised to bring the necessary documents for immediate processing. The event saw a positive turnout, with 28 applications successfully submitted and uploaded onto the portal. This initiative by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is a proactive step that serves as a model for other ULBs, ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive the support they need to access housing benefits under PMAY(U).
