Kalahandi (Odisha), January 18, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium’s “Swarna Prashan” initiative has made a notable impact on child health in Odisha, positively affecting 22,000 students since its launch in September 2024. Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, the programme recently completed its 5th phase, benefiting over 5,000 students in 13 government schools in Kalahandi, a region predominantly inhabited by tribal communities.
The initiative focuses on promoting cognitive and physical development through Ayurvedic health practices, supporting children’s well-being during their formative years. Dr. Kshetra Kand, Ayurvedic Medical Officer in Kalahandi, praised the programme, stating, “Swarna Prashan is vital in shaping a healthy future, and Vedanta’s contribution to bringing this programme to local children is invaluable.”
Sunil Gupta, Vedanta Aluminium’s Chief Operating Officer, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving child health in underserved areas, saying, “We are focused on creating a lasting impact on the health and development of children, providing them with the necessary support to thrive.”
Following the success in Kalahandi, Vedanta plans to expand the Swarna Prashan programme to Koraput district, aiming to reach 30,000 children by the end of the year. This initiative reflects Vedanta’s commitment to sustainable, long-term community development and health improvement in Odisha’s rural regions.
