Bhubaneswar: Today, the State Government launched an initiative to gather budget suggestions from the general public, civil society organizations, and advocacy groups for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
To democratize the budgetary process, the Finance Department has engaged with various community members through pre-budget consultations. For several years now, the Department has leveraged Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to invite public opinion via e-mail, SMS, and WhatsApp.
This year, the Finance Department again invites suggestions through its webpage, budget.odisha.gov.in, to help shape the Annual Budget 2025-26. Suggestions can also be sent via email to odisha.budget@gov.in. Additionally, inputs are welcome through WhatsApp at (+91)9438161111, X (formerly Twitter) @FdOdisha, Facebook @FinanceOdisha, and Instagram @fdodisha. This initiative will be open until January 31, 2025.
The Finance Department encourages members of the public, civil society organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to take advantage of this unique opportunity to participate in the budget-making process.
In previous years, the Finance Department received an overwhelming response from the public and incorporated many of the suggestions into the final budget, according to official sources.
