Mumbai: Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) have teamed up to work on battery energy storage solutions in India. The two companies signed an agreement to explore new opportunities in this field, they announced on Wednesday.
This partnership, formed during India Energy Week 2025, will focus on improving large-scale energy storage, making the power grid more stable, and helping renewable energy work more efficiently. It will also look at using battery storage for industries, microgrids, backup power, and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of TPREL, said battery storage will help make India’s power supply more reliable and support its clean energy goals. ONGC Chairman and CEO Arun Kumar Singh added that energy storage is key to making renewable energy more useful and keeping the power grid stable.
By combining their expertise, ONGC and TPREL aim to drive innovation and growth in India’s energy storage sector.
