Bhubaneswar, Odisha: 17/12/2024: In a significant move to enhance the welfare of preschool children and women, the Odisha government has collaborated with the Anil Agarwal Foundation to upgrade 500 Anganwadi centres in Jharsuguda. This project will transform the centres into modern “Nand Ghars” aiming to support the holistic development of women and children under Vedanta’s community-focused initiative.
District Collector Aboli Naravane lauded Vedanta’s efforts, saying that the ‘Nand Ghar’ initiative would create learning centres and provide safe spaces for women and children. She called the MoU an important step toward community empowerment. Sunil Gupta, COO of Vedanta Aluminium, expressed his pride in the project, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainable growth and long-lasting community development in collaboration with Jharsuguda’s leadership.
The MoU signing coincided with the event, “Dukan Jatra,” which attracted over 3,500 participants, including 60 schools’ students, community members, and Vedanta Aluminium employees. The event featured an Entrepreneurship Showcase, where over 60 student-run stalls presented homemade handicrafts and food, promoting creativity and business skills. This collaboration highlights Odisha’s dedication to grassroots development, aiming to drive sustainable an inclusive growth in the region.
