Rourkela: The 2024-25 Men’s Hockey India League season ended with an exciting match. The Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers beat Hyderabad Toofans 4-3 in the final at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. The Tigers’ strong performance in the second half helped them win the game.
The Toofans took the lead early with goals from Gonzalo Peillat (9′, 39′) and Amandeep Lakra (26′). The Tigers answered with three goals from Jugraj Singh (25′, 32′, 35′) and one from Sam Lane (54′) to take the title.
The match started with both teams attacking, but the Toofans scored first from a penalty corner by Peillat. The Tigers quickly equalized with a strong shot by Jugraj Singh. The Toofans regained the lead when Lakra scored another penalty corner, but the Tigers kept fighting.
In the second half, Jugraj Singh scored twice more to give the Tigers the lead. Peillat responded with another goal for the Toofans, tying the game at 3-3. With just six minutes left, Sam Lane scored the winning goal for the Tigers, and despite a last-minute push from the Toofans, the Tigers held on to win.
The Tigers won INR 3 crore for their victory, while the Toofans received INR 2 crore for being the runners-up.
