Paradip, March 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the third stream of the Sulphuric acid plant (SAP-III) of IFFCO at Paradip in Odisha on Friday. The plant has been built with an investment of Rs 750 crore.
Shah while unveiling the project, highlighted that this would boost India’s push towards self-reliance in the fertilizer sector. He said that Union government is committed to build every village in Odisha on the lines of the Gujarat model, empowering about 36 lakh rural women.
While speaking at the event, he said, “Despite being one of the country’s most prosperous states in terms of natural resources, Odisha’s potential remained untapped for many years.”
Highlighting the importance of the new plant of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) unit in Paradip, Shah stressed that this facility would help reduce India’s dependence on imported raw materials used in fertilisers.
The industrial sector in Odisha is growing rapidly and the expansion of this production unit of sulphuric acid plant is likely to catapult the state’s growth.
