Bhubanewsar, 06/03/2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminum producer, conducted a large-scale emergency preparedness drill across 23 districts of Odisha, focusing on strengthening collaboration between industries and disaster response agencies. The initiative aimed to enhance coordination among various stakeholders in handling hazardous chemical emergencies.
The drill featured multiple simulated emergency scenarios, allowing agencies such as the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSADMA), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire safety teams, and railway organizations to test their response strategies in a real-time environment.
Dignitaries present at the event included Sabyasachi Panda, Sub-Collector of Jharsuguda; Chandramani Swain, Additional District Magistrate; Sushant Mishra, District Project Officer; Odisha State Disaster Management Officer; and Archana Das, Assistant Director of Jharsuguda Zone, among others.
Sunil Gupta, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized the importance of collaboration in industrial safety, stating, “Effective emergency response requires seamless coordination between industries and disaster management agencies. This drill is a step forward in ensuring collective preparedness and a robust safety culture across the sector.
