Jharsuguda, Odisha, 14/05/2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, celebrated the International Day of Families by organizing its special annual event called ‘Proud Parents’. This event is meant for the parents of Vedanta employees and gives them a chance to see where their children work and understand what they do. It also helps promote a family-friendly culture within the company.
This year’s event followed the United Nations theme, “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development”. Over two days, parents were invited to visit Vedanta’s large aluminium plant in Jharsuguda. They were taken on a guided tour of important parts of the plant, including the Carbon area, Potline, Cast House, and Power Plant. It was a way for them to experience the workplace first-hand.
Along with the plant visit, parents were also shown the company’s employee township, which has many facilities like swimming pools, gyms, stadiums, supermarkets, hospitals, and more. They also learned about Vedanta’s work in the local community, such as supporting education, healthcare, jobs, and building local infrastructure.
Mr. Sunil Gupta, COO of Vedanta Aluminium, said that strong families and communities are the base of a strong company. The ‘Proud Parents’ event helps parents feel proud of their children’s work and see that they are safe and valued. It builds trust and brings families closer to the company’s mission and values.
