Bhubaneswar, Odisha; 8th September, 2025 – Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has once again demonstrated its deep-rooted commitment to grassroots education by organising a block-level one-day teachers’ orientation programme at Mahima Degree College, Bijapali. Held in collaboration with the Block Education Department, the event aimed to enhance pedagogical skills and teaching methodologies for elementary school teachers, thereby strengthening the foundation of learning in rural Odisha.
The orientation programme brought together more than 650 elementary teachers from Lakhanpur block, making it one of the most significant capacity-building efforts for educators in the region. Teachers, often considered the cornerstones of community development, were engaged in interactive sessions designed to sharpen their instructional techniques and expand their knowledge base.
The training agenda was broad and practical, covering modules on lesson planning, classroom management, creation of low-cost teaching-learning materials, disaster preparedness, first aid, and integration of technology in classrooms. Beyond theoretical inputs, teachers actively participated in hands-on workshops, peer discussions, and scenario-based learning exercises, ensuring that the training translated into actionable strategies for their classrooms. At the end of the programme, participants were felicitated with certificates in recognition of their commitment to continuous learning.
The event was graced by several eminent dignitaries, including Sashmita Sahu, Joint Director, OSEPA, and Amulya Kumar Padhan, Regional Director, DHSE, Sambalpur, alongside senior officials of the Education Department. Their presence underlined the collaborative effort between the private sector and government institutions to uplift rural education.
Speaking about the initiative, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasised the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future generation. He said, “Teachers are the backbone of education, and empowering them is key to nurturing future-ready students. Such programmes play a crucial role in equipping educators to deliver engaging learning experiences for young minds. Echoing this sentiment, Amulya Kumar Padhan, Regional Director, DHSE, Sambalpur, remarked, “This initiative by Vedanta Aluminium is a commendable step towards improving the quality of education in rural Odisha. The orientation programme also highlighted the increasing importance of technology integration in education. With digital literacy becoming essential, teachers were trained on simple yet effective ways to use technology in classrooms—ranging from mobile-based apps to interactive digital content—to make learning more engaging and inclusive.
This initiative is part of Vedanta Aluminium’s larger socio-developmental vision, which spans education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, infrastructure development, grassroots sports, and cultural preservation.
