Bhubaneswar, 19/12: Demonstrating its commitment to empowering tribal communities and promoting education, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer, has enhanced infrastructure at 14 government schools and 7 Anganwadi centres in the Jhakmani coal mine area of Sundargarh, Odisha. Over 750 students from villages including Mundelkheta, Kodajalanga, Bhograkachhar, Ghogharpalli, Jamkani, and Girisma have received better facilities such as desks, benches, chairs, tables, racks, and cupboards.
The initiative was celebrated during a handover ceremony attended by school principals, educational leaders, and community members. Bhabani Shankar Pradhan, a teacher from Bhograkachhar Upper Primary School, acknowledged Vedanta’s support for fostering a better educational environment. Ramlal Patel, president of the Block Teachers’ Association, emphasized that the improved infrastructure helps students focus on their academics and reflects Vedanta’s dedication to societal progress.
Vedanta’s commitment extends beyond education to healthcare, rural development, and cultural initiatives. Its mobile health units and health camps address healthcare needs in rural Odisha.
