Bhubaneswar, 20/03/2025: Vedanta Aluminum, India’s biggest aluminium producer, celebrated Women’s Week by supporting women’s growth and leadership. The company organised many programs to help women build their careers, take on leadership roles, and contribute to the industry. As part of its ‘Shakti Se Pragati’ campaign, Vedanta wants to empower women at work, at home, and in their communities. A big moment during the week was the launch of the first-ever women-run smelter line at its aluminium plant in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
Vedanta is working to hire more women and has set a goal to increase female employees by 300% by 2030. To support this, the company introduced Unstoppable Magazine, which shares inspiring stories of women at Vedanta, and Pink book, a guide to workplace policies that support women. The company also provided better uniforms for women employees to make them feel more comfortable. Women’s Week also included leadership workshops, self-defense training, and mentorship programs to help women gain new skills and confidence.
At Vedanta’s Lanjigarh alumina refinery, Ms. Aparna Sharma, a corporate consultant, led a session on Conflict Management and shared stories of successful women employees. At the Jharsuguda plant, the company organized a self-defense training session and a seminar on gender inclusion to help women grow in their careers. Vedanta also supported over 100 terracotta artisans, helping local women learn new skills and earn a living.
Vedanta also honoured women entrepreneurs in a special event with Subhalakshmi Cooperative. The company encouraged school children to take part in fun activities like relay races to promote inclusivity. Through these efforts, Vedanta Aluminium is helping women break barriers, grow in their careers, and become leaders.
