New Delhi, 20/12/2024: In a landmark achievement that underscores its leadership in the aluminium sector, Vedanta Aluminium has become India’s first and only company to secure Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its aluminium wire rods and rolled products, including sheets, plates, and strips.
This milestone, achieved earlier this year, aligns with the government’s directive mandating BIS certification for all aluminium wire rods and rolled products sold in India.
The certification applies to Vedanta Aluminium’s products manufactured at its BALCO facility in Chhattisgarh and its Jharsuguda unit in Odisha. It spans a broad range of offerings, including 12 mm wire rods, rolled sheets, rolled conductor plates, rolled plates, EC ingots, alloy ingots, and primary ingots. These products cater to critical engineering and industrial applications, bolstering the company’s competitive edge in domestic and international markets.
Sunil Gupta, COO of Vedanta Aluminium, called the BIS certification a transformative milestone, highlighting the company’s dedication to quality, safety, and compliance. He credited the achievement to significant investments in advanced technology and innovation, positioning Vedanta to meet India’s increasing demand for high-quality aluminium products.
With a wide-ranging product lineup that includes Restora – Low Carbon Aluminium, billets, wire rods, alloy ingots, cast bars, AlSi T-ingots, slabs, and rolled products, Vedanta Aluminium supports sectors such as aerospace, automotive, construction, electrification, engineering, packaging, and consumer goods. Its adoption of state-of-the-art technology and international know-how has solidified its reputation as a preferred global supplier, reaching over 60 countries.
