Bhubaneswar, 22/08/2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, recently carried out a major health awareness campaign to fight malaria, dengue, and diarrhoea in its operational areas. This week-long drive covered 28 villages, 2 special schools, and 1 old age home, reaching over 3,000 people through interactive sessions and live demonstrations.
The campaign aimed to educate communities about mosquito-borne diseases like malaria and dengue, as well as sanitation-related illnesses such as diarrhoea. People were taught how these diseases spread, the early warning signs, and simple steps to prevent them, such as removing stagnant water, using mosquito nets, and practicing good hygiene.
To make learning practical, the team conducted hand-washing demonstrations and explained the importance of clean surroundings. All sessions were held in local languages and adapted for different age groups. Informative leaflets were also distributed to reinforce key messages.
Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, said: “Our focus is on long-term, inclusive development. Good health and hygiene are essential for a strong community, and campaigns like this empower people to protect themselves and their families.”
Dr. Sri Jayanarayan Pujari, who led the effort, added: “These sessions filled an important knowledge gap. Many people did not know that simple habits- like covering water containers or washing hands properly- can prevent serious diseases. It was great to see active participation from both children and adults.”
This initiative has strengthened community awareness and encouraged people to adopt healthy habits at the grassroots level. It reflects Vedanta Aluminium’s broader mission to improve health, education, and livelihoods in the regions it serves, creating lasting positive change for thousands of families.
