Bhubaneswar, 18.06.2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, organized blood donation camp across its operational areas in Odisha on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. To address the pressing need for blood in hospitals, Vedanta collaborated with government health departments and local partners to organize these camps.
In Jharsuguda, a major camp was held at the Vedanta plant premises, where a record 680 units of blood were donated by employees, business partners, and residents. The event also marked the inauguration of a newly built satellite hospital in the district, boosting local medical infrastructure.
At Lanjigarh, where Vedanta operates an alumina refinery, a voluntary blood donation camp resulted in the collection of 130 units for nearby government hospitals, greatly helping to meet the region’s medical needs.
Additionally, near Vedanta’s Sijimali mine, 50 units of blood were donated through a partnership with the Odisha State Blood Transfusion Council and local youth groups. This initiative supported a local hospital facing frequent blood shortages.
Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajiv Kumar stated, “Quality healthcare is a fundamental right. Our health initiatives, including blood donation drives, reflect our belief in creating long-term positive change. We are proud to work alongside communities and government bodies to build a healthier, more resilient society.”
