Bhubaneswar, May 23, 2025 : On the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity, Vedanta Aluminium, one of India’s leading producers of aluminium alloys, has unveiled a range of initiatives aimed at conserving biodiversity and restoring natural habitats across its operational regions.
The company’s multi-pronged approach includes the rescue and safe release of thousands of reptiles and small wild animals, afforestation drives, pond clean-up initiatives, reintroduction of native species, and extensive green belt development. In addition, Vedanta is running educational outreach programs in local communities to foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
This year’s theme, “Be Part of the Plan – Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development,” resonates strongly with Vedanta Aluminium’s vision of integrating industrial growth with ecological responsibility.
As part of its biodiversity road map, Vedanta Aluminium has collaborated with PwC India to revise and strengthen its biodiversity management plans at all operational sites. These updated plans form a cornerstone of the company’s broader strategy to ensure ecological restoration and work toward a “no net loss” of biodiversity.
“Our commitment to biodiversity goes beyond mere regulatory compliance,” said Rajeev Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium. “It is embedded in the very core of our operational philosophy.”
