Bhubaneswar, 16/04/2025: Vedanta Aluminium has sponsored Odisha’s first-ever trekking expedition sanctioned by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), enabling 26 students from Kalahandi to successfully complete the Nag Tibba trek in the Garhwal Himalayas.
The young trekkers, all supported by Vedanta, scaled the 3,022-metre Nag Tibba peak under the leadership of Everest summiteer and renowned mountaineer Jogabyasa Bhoi. They were guided by senior instructors Romanchal Bhoi and Dhanpati Bag, who helped the students develop key mountaineering skills and complete the challenging journey safely.
As part of the experience, the team also had the opportunity to meet Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who praised their achievement and interacted with the students.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “We are proud to have facilitated Odisha’s first IMF-sanctioned trekking expedition. This initiative has empowered young talent from Kalahandi to step beyond their boundaries, build resilience, and embrace the spirit of adventure.”
Sharing his experience, trekker Ranju Ranu said, “This expedition not only pushed our physical limits but also strengthened our bonds and deepened our respect for the Himalayas. It was a dream I couldn’t pursue earlier due to financial constraints. We are truly grateful to Vedanta Aluminium for making it a reality.”
