Vedanta Group is celebrating the increasing participation of women in its workforce. The company is working towards its goal of 30% female representation by 2030 and has already reached 19% in its total talent pool. Women also hold 28% of leadership roles, the highest among metals and mining companies in India. The natural resources sector has traditionally had very few women, but Vedanta is making efforts to change that by hiring more skilled women.
To support gender diversity, Vedanta has introduced several policies, including mentorship programs, targeted hiring, and career growth opportunities. The company believes that having more women in the workforce will help close the talent gap and bring new ideas to the industry. These steps align with Vedanta’s sustainability goals, ensuring equal opportunities for both men and women.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Ltd. and Non-Executive Director of Vedanta, highlighted the importance of gender inclusion. She stated that increasing women’s participation in the workforce by just 10% could add $770 billion to India’s economy. Vedanta remains committed to empowering women and creating a workplace where they can grow and succeed.
