Bhubaneswar,17/12/2024: Vedanta’s ₹1 lakh crore investment in Odisha will fund the creation of a 6 MTPA alumina refinery and a 3 MTPA aluminium plant, committed to producing green aluminium and providing 2 lakh job opportunities. During an interaction between Vedanta and Odisha’s Chief Minister at the “Utkarsh Odisha” roadshow, a part of the upcoming Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, the announcement was made.
“Vedanta’s investments are a testament to our commitment to fostering Odisha’s industrial growth and inclusive development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, we will continue to drive economic prosperity, support communities, and improve the quality of life for millions in the state,” said Vedanta’s Chairman, Anil Agarwal.
This investment will support the establishment of critical infrastructures like education centres, hospitals, skill development hubs, and Nandghars to empower local communities.
“Vedanta’s continued support is key to Odisha’s goal of becoming a half-trillion-dollar economy by 2030. This investment will generate numerous jobs for the people, and the state government is committed to support the development of these projects,” said the Chief Minister. Furthermore, Vedanta’s plans are anticipated to positively impact MSMEs in aluminium and related industries, opening up new business opportunities.
