Kalahandi, 16/01/2025: The 27th Kalahandi Utsav – Ghumura 2025 saw Vedanta Lanjigarh, India’s leading producer of metallurgical-grade alumina, showcasing its transformative community development efforts. The company’s stall prominently featured Project Adikala, a unique initiative reviving ancient art forms like Saura and Dhokra, empowering over 200 rural families through sustainable livelihoods. Alongside this, Project Sakhi displayed homemade organic products created by over 4,000 women, reinforcing Vedanta’s commitment to promoting rural women’s economic independence.
The visitors were also introduced to Vedanta’s innovative aluminium production process, which transforms bauxite ore into high-quality aluminium products at their advanced plants. The stall also highlighted the company’s sustainable operations, demonstrating how Vedanta’s business practices align with environmental responsibility and community welfare.
The inauguration of the Vedanta stall was marked by the presence of Hon’ble Kalahandi Member of Parliament Smt. Malvika Devi and Hon’ble District Collector Shri Sachin Pawar, who praised the fusion of cultural heritage and modern development seen at the event. MP Smt. Malvika Devi applauded Vedanta’s initiatives, particularly its support for local artisans and women, while District Collector Shri Sachin Pawar highlighted how industries can promote regional development without compromising cultural preservation.
Vedanta’s CEO, Mr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, expressed pride in the company’s participation in the festival, emphasizing that Kalahandi Utsav celebrates the region’s cultural richness and the company’s commitment to supporting local communities.
