Bhawanipatna, 21.04.2025: Vedanta, India’s largest producer of aluminium, is helping local communities in Odisha in many ways. One recent example was a cultural event held at the Eklavya Model Residential School in Thuamul Rampur, a tribal area in Kalahandi district.
The event was organised by Vedanta’s Sijimali Bauxite team to encourage students to learn about their traditional art and express their creativity. More than 120 students took part in a special workshop on Saura art, one of the oldest tribal art forms of Odisha. Teachers from Kalahandi College of Art and Research guided the students, helping them understand the meaning, history, and techniques of this beautiful art.
The children enjoyed the workshop and made colourful paintings that showed scenes from folklore and daily life. It helped them feel proud of their culture and gave them a chance to learn something new in a fun way.
The school’s headmaster, Satya Prakash Satya, said, “We thank Vedanta Aluminium for organising this event. It helped our students connect with their roots and improve their artistic skills.”
Nitin Tiwari, the Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta’s Bauxite Mines, said, “We want to support the local communities not just with jobs, but also by protecting their culture and helping children grow. Events like these show our commitment to building a better future together.”
Vedanta works in many areas like education, health, jobs, infrastructure, sports, and culture. So far, the company’s community programs have helped over 1.5 lakh people in 67 villages in Kalahandi, and around 5 lakh people across Odisha.
This art event is just one of the many ways Vedanta is trying to bring positive change in the lives of people in tribal areas.
